Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may request an absentee ballot for the presidential primary (now scheduled for July 7).

Follow the "Find Out If You're Registered" workflow below, and on your "Registrant Detail" page, there will be a button for "Request an Absentee Ballot".

Voting, on its own, is a critical part of being a citizen of the United States. However, for local elections (such as this one), it is even more important. The previous race for District 22 was decided by only 140 votes (and with only two candidates on the ballot, that means that 70 people decided the election).

The election this year is Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020. You must register to vote by October 10, 2020, in order to vote in the general election.

Registration Requirements

In order to vote in the 2020 general election, you need to be a registered voter in the state of Delaware. If you're not registered yet, or if you're not sure, Delaware makes the process very easy (and you can do it online).

Who can register to vote? You must meet all three of these requirements:

  1. You are a citizen of the United States, AND
  2. You are a resident of the state of Delaware, AND
  3. You will be 18 years old on or before November 3rd, 2020.

Find Out If You're Registered

Go to Delaware's online voter registration system and provide your first name, last name, and date of birth; then, click on "Look Up".

If You Are Registered...

If you are registered, then you'll be taken to the "Registrant Detail" screen with your address, your party affiliation, as well as your polling location. Depending on when you search, you may have multiple options available under "Election Details" (the presidential primary, primary, and general elections). Based on which election you choose, the system will show you which polling place you should go to in order to vote.

You may also use the "Edit Your Registration" button to make any changes (for example, if you recently moved or want to change your political party). Please note that while your political party dictates which primary election you may vote in (Delaware is a "closed primary" state), it has no impact at all on your vote in the general election; you may vote for any candidate that you choose.

If You're Not Registered...

If you're not registered, then you'll see a message like this one stating that the system couldn't find you.

If you can't find yourself in the system, then you should register to vote.

Go to and click on "Not yet registered?" (or just click here). You'll be given a 9-step process to register to vote. Just answer each step's questions and click on "Next" to move on to the next step.

If you have any questions, please contact the Delaware Department of Elections at (302) 739-4277.
